PASHA BEATS MARSHALL Demonstration at Dunedin 1 . ' By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, August 31. In the Town Hall to-night, before an audience of 1009, Kara Pasha (12st» 121 b.) defeated Rochy Marshall (13st. 91b.) in a sensational manner. The Turk secured a fall in the second round following two severe headlocks, which left Marshall in a bad way. Marshall staggered into the ring for the third round, but managed to last till the bell, and recovering well in the next round imprisoned Pasha with a double nelson, the Turk conceding a submission fall after severe punishment. The end came in the fifth round when Pasha threw Marshall on to the ropes, the latter being momentarily suspended in the air before slipping head first between the ring and the concert platform. He pulled out and was preparing to re-enter the ring when Pasha leaned over the ropes, clamped on a headlock, and hurled Marshall heavily to the canvas in the centre of the ring, pouncing on him to secure the fall. There was a hostile demonstration from the audience, and Marshall danced round the ring protesting against the decision. The referee, M. Coughlan. was so interested in seeing Marshall extracted from his position that he evidently did not see Pasha secure the hold. ELLIOTT DEFEATS LUNDYN Good Bout at Wanganui Dominion Special Service. Wanganui, August 3L After five rounds of fast and exciting wrestling, King Elliot (Wanganui) beat Alex. Lundyn (Finland), the Finn having to retire with,a muscle in his left shoulder torn, after Lundyn had secured one fall in the fourth round. From the moment the two men entered the ring they made the pace, shifting from one hold to another in swift succession., and leaving no time for eo-called showmanship. _ The crowd appreciated the willing tactics of Elliot and Lundyn, who gave a great exhibition of wrestling, and at the end of each round they were greeted with loud applause. At no time was there any disapproval—a striking contrast to the finish of the Kara Pasha —Pinto contest. In the amateur preliminaries some good fast bouts-were staged, a party of Palmerston North amateurs competing with Wanganui boys. In the first bout J. Bullock, Wanganui (lOst. 51b.), drew with R. Dechene, Palmerston North (lOst. 31b.); S. Sullivan, Wanganui (lOst. 51b.), beat Pudsey, Wanganui (lOst 51b.), securing falls in the first and third rounds; B. Bullock, Wanganui (9st- 91b.), beat A. Stratton, Palmerston North (lOst.), by one fall, in the second round; A. Marsh, Wanganui (list. 121 b.), beat R. Newth, Palmerston North (list, 81b.), securing falls in the second and third rounds. Pinto v. Pasha There is sure to be a big crowd at the Town Hall on Monday night next to witness the wrestling match between Stanley Pinto and Kara Pasha. The pair have met on two previous occasions, Pasha winning the first time at Christchurch, while the second bout at Wanganui ended iu a draw. In the first bout, which is said to have been the most exciting ever held in Christchurch, each man gained a fall, and there was very little between the contestants at the finish. In Wanganui the wrestlers "were subjected to. much criticism, the local association holding up the purse for a time. It is on account of the statements made at Wanganui that Pinto has challenged Pasha pgain; because he says he wants to clear his name. Instead of the usual nremilinary bouts, Anton Koblman and Alex. Lundyn, two professional wrestlers, will wrestle a five ten-minute-round contest prior to the Pasha-Pinto match.
