Fierce Tribe Found by Exploration Party STRANGERS ATTACKED By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright (Rec. August 81, 7.30 p.m.). Canberra, August 31. The Lieutenant-Governor of Papua, reporting on a recent first exploration of the Inhospitable valley of Klapou, says that Patrol-Officer Hides found a most unfriendly people living in scattered villages in the wildest localities and practising strange rites, particularly in regard to the disposal of their dead. The natives are cannibals and apparently fierce fighters. They attacked the expedition, and one carrier was wounded by arrows.
