SMOCKS IN LONDON

A Quaint Custom Observed A very picturesque old custom is still observed in the city of London on July 9 by the Master Wardens and members of the Worshipful Company of Vintners. They walk in solemn procession from their hall in Upper Thames Street to attend service at 5 p.m. at the Church of St. James, Garlickhythe. The procession is led by two wineporters in old-time top hats and white smocks.
