The Hon. Sir James Sinclair left for Lyttelton on the Wahine last evening.

Cassin, London; and Mr. P. J. McGrath, Sydney, are at the Hotel St. George. Mr. G. D. Vincent and Mr. J. Oliver, Auckland; Mr. K. I. Hemlrie, Nelson; Mr. F. J. Swindell. Palmerston Xorth; and Mr. P. S. Finlayson, Patea, are at the Grand Hotel Mr. C. E. Weston-Wacher, LL.B, LL.M., of Christchurch and Napier, who has been for the last twelve months in London studying English law; will return to New Zealand by the Remuera on September 6. Mr. W. 11. Tustin, a former resident of Wellington, has been appointed to the Executive Council at Norfolk Island, a body of twelve men who co-operate with the Administrator. Mr. Tustin’s function comprises the drafting of legislation. Mr. R. A. Loughnan, of Wellington, will celebrate his ninetieth birthday today. Early in life he entered journalism, and he was lender writer during the late war for the “New Zealand Times.” which was absorbed by “The Dominion” in 1927. Two years ago lie compiled a volume on the political career of the late Sir Joseph Ward.

Winn, who has been in charge of the Wellington branch of the Norwich Union Fire Insurance Society, Ltd., since April 1, Ims received cabled advice from the society’s head office confirming his appointment ns local branch manager. Before coming to New Zealand, Mr. Winn was inspector of the society’s branch at Southampton.
