TO-DAY’S WEATHER FORECAST.
Meteorological Office, Wellington, Monday, August 81, 1981, 4 p.m. The meteorological situation is still dominated by an extensive depression which covers the Dominion with Its centre to-day west of the Auckland peninsula.. Winds moderato to strong and rising to gale force in places; westerly backing to southerly north of New Plymouth and East Cape; elsewhere southerly. Seas heavy on parts of the East Coast south of Oastlepolnt; elsewhere rough in New Zealand waters. Strong southerly winds to gales In the eastern Tasman Sea, with rough to heavy seas. Weather cold, unsettled and squally with rain In most districts, and some heavy falls in the North Island and the north-east portion of the South Island; snow on some of the high country.
