CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING

Hutt Valley Gun Club At the Hutt Valley Gun Club Sheet competitions were held last Saturday afternoon. Skeet is a form of clay bird shooting designed to simulate shooting conditions in the field. The birds are shot at from various angles, and only one barrel may be used at each bird. The conditions are more difficult than In ordinary trap shooting. During the afternoon three matches each of fourteen birds were fired, and the best scores were those of Dr. G. F. V. Anson and F. Triplow with 12 birds apiece, and H. Smith, S, Tlsdall, and W. J. H. Haase with 11 birds apiece. Saturday's results were as follow:— First Match.—C. V. O’Neill, 10; F. Thornton, 10; J. Brasell. 8 ; F. Triplow, 9; S. Tlsdall, 9; H. Smith, 8; W. J. H. Haase, 8; C.
