Local Bodies’ Conference A conference of the Hutt Valley local bodies was held last Friday with a view to the useful employment of-men at present on the No. - 5 scheme. The representatives were: Hutt County, Messrs. D. Hoggard and Dyer; Petoneßorough, Councillor Jacobson; Lower Hutt, Mr. W. T. Strand (mayor) and Councillor J. Mitchell; Upper Hutt,- Mr. A. J. McCurdy (mayor) and Councillor A. Howell. Mr. A. J. -McCurdy, who suggested the meetIng, occupied the chair and explained the objects of the. meeting.
