BEATEN, BUT WON
Unusual Wrestling Finish ALLEY AND PENCHEFF By Telegraph—Press Association. New Plymouth, August 80. Tom Alley defeated George Pencheff at Stratford on Saturday night in a wrestling bout that had a strange finish. Alley had a one-fall advantage when the eighth and last round started, but he appeared certain to lose his advantage when, groggy and shaken by repeated headlocks, he staggered round the ring. Pencheff, however, failed to finish him. This was probably due to the fact that in the interval before the round Alley removed his shoes. Pencheff tried treading on his toes, Ailey’s reply being a vigorous kick in the groin, from which Pencheff had probably not recovered.
