EGGS ARE CHEAP
Prices at/Very Low Level Eggs went down to 1/- a dozen at the end of the week, the lowest price reached for a considerable time. But for the fact t.hta poultry-keepers are just entering the brooding season and are getting better returns for sittings of eggs and chicks, they would be having a very lean time with poultry food at its present high prices. Poultry-farmers say they lose money on eggs if they receive less than 1/2 a dozen and that with the retail price at 1/- they are losing at least 3d a dozen. The Dominion has been building up an egg export trade, and the latest returns show that eggs are fetching a good price on the Home market. Witli eggs at 1/- a dozen in the city, housekeepers have a good opportunity to preserve a few dozen against a time when prices xtaa again.
