Town and Country Games PHILLPOTTS CUP As several of the hockey players picked for the senior A Town v. Country match at Karori Park on Saturday afternoon failed to attend., the teams were made up by the inclusion of players of other grades who were present, and a scratch game, which ended 4-ail, was played. The half-time score was 1-oli, Phlllpotta having ecored for Town, and Robb for Country. After the interval, Phillpotts, Judd, and Macintosh each scored for Town, and P. Adams and Watchman (2) for Country. Mr. R. P. Staples was the referee. Juniors and Thirds The combined juniors and thirds Town v. Country match resulted in Country winning by 4 goals to 3. In the first spell Reeves, Bennett and Fielder scored for Town, and Plhypers for Country. In the second half 'Watchman scored two goals for Country and Gillespie one. Mr. W. Purves was the referee. PHILLPOTTS CUP Wanganui Victorious A game for the Phillpotts Cup wan played at Kilbirnie Park between a Wanganui Wesley team and a Wellington Wesley team. Wanganui won by 3 goals to 2The teams were:— Wanganui: Smith, Hartnell, Veitch, Barlow, Warden, Broad, Greenfield, Harding, Barwood, Adam, Day. Wellington: Dykes, Clarke, Bnnchunbnrg, Robb, Luke, McFadden, Strong, Edwards, Ellas, Hatch, Butcher. The; game was fairly; even throughout. Wellington had the faster forwards, but the Wanganui defence was very sound, and the full-backs did excellent work. The score at half-time was 2-all, E. Veitch and Hartnell having scored for Wanganui, and Edwards and Elias for Wellington. After the Interval Hartnell scored again for Wanganui; Mr. C. P. McKenzie was the referee,' GAME ENDS IN DRAW
Taranaki and Wellington FOUR GOALS EACH By Telegraph—Press Association Hawera, August 29. A fast, open hockey game between Taranaki and Wellington men’s representatives this afternoon resulted in a draw, four goals aU Wellington led by two to one at half-time, Phillips having twice found the net for Wellington; Surgenor goaled for Taranaki. The same Taranaki player added three goals in the second spell. Burton and King scoring for. Wellington. The equalising goal was secured in the last five minutes. In a junior representative game, Taranaki and Wanganui drew, 2-all.'
