MASQUERADE PARTY
Interesting Costumes Worn Some interesting costumes were worn on Saturday night at a small masquerade given by Major-General and Madame Merlin at their house in Oriental Bay. Dancing and games provided excellent amuseme"t. and masks were removed before supper. A flat bowl o£ spring flowers decorated the dining table, where a hot and delightful supper was served. Madame Morfin, who was dressed in a genuine Dutch costume, received the guests in the hall. Among those present were:—Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Yaldwyn (“Powder and Patches”), Mrs. B. ("Pierrette”), Madame Mennlnkott (“Chinese Aristocrat"), Mrs. Kaula (“Gipsy”), MU» Oliia Lankovsky (“Hungarian Glpay"), Miss Nancy Fotherlngham (“Miss 1941”), Miss Barbara Robeson (“Peter Pan”), Miss Jean Ormlstead (“Japan”)’, Miss M. Statham ("Scarlet Flower”), Messrs. Cable (2) ("Two Small Boys"), Signor Formichella C’Sheik"), Monsieur Masdubost ("Pierrot”), Monsieur Mennlnkott ("Monk”), Mr. Got Heb ("Mephlstopheles"), Monsieur Nihotte (“Tyrolese Mountaineer”), Mr. Kaula (“Pierrot”), Messrs. Hal Paterson ("Sailor”), Bell Hunter (“Art Student”), Jim Reid (“Golliwog"), F. Muntz (“Sheik”), Karl Pallo ("Hussar”). Mrs. Norris, Misses V. and M. Clark, J. Penbertny, J. Haywood. J. Patterson, I Wood, N. Bullock, V. Wood, J. Rogers and G. Gould, members of the Wesley Hockey Club, Wanganui, who visited- WijL lington at the week-end, have returnees to Wanganui.
