HATS FOR YOUR DOLLS.
“Plain Jane” sends us the following little article. She writes:.“lt is often difficult to make nice hats for small celluloid dolls. Here are a few simple styles. First, the beret. To make this, two circles of material are cut; then a hole is cut in the centre of one circle, to fit the head of the doll. The two circles are sewn together, turned, and the edge la finished off neatly. “Fig; 1 will show how two pieces of material, are cut out and sewn strongly together. The hat is then • turned Inside out, the. brim sewn on and flowers embroidered for trimming. “The sun hat is more difficult, but if directions are.followed all will be well. Cut a straight piece of material, long enough to go round the head and wide enough to fit to the top of the doll’s head. Join, and gather at the top. This finishes the crown. “There are two ways of making the brim. A circle can lie cut with a hole in the middle big enough to go over the doll’s head. This is sewn on and around the raw edge. The other way is to cut a long strip, double It, and gather so that it fits around the edge of the crown. This is sewn on and joined at the two edges.” —From “Plain Jane,” Marton.
