AMATEUR PRELIMINARIES - Wanganui, Augutst 28, for the wrestling bout between Lundyn and Elliott were completed at-a meeting of the executive of the WanganulWreatllng Association last night. If was reported that booking for the bout ha'd commenced, and there were Indications that a full house would be drawn. After viewing a bout at Wellington, member* of the association are assured that contests can be spectacular even without “showmanship,'’ and the matching of the Finnish champion and the ex-Wanga-niil boy promises a display which will be of educative value to local amateurs, at the same time providing a thrill tor the large house which Is expected. Amateurs will visit Wanganui from Palmeftton- North on the night of the bout, and the following, have been matched with Wanganui boye:—K. Newth, Hodge, R. Dei-lean, R. D. Stratton. \ Jit was reported that great Interest la being taken In amateur wrestling all over the district, and In the city alone lo more have Indicated that they would like to take an active part In the sport. The development of clubs In the city and district, affiliated with the Wanganui association, Is favoured, by the association, and at least five clubs will be formed In the near future. The association Intends hiring • room in the city and furnishing ft w th mats and the-necessary gear, and providing instruction; for. those who.. . Join the clubs. Mr..' B.
