Auckland Meeting To-day REVIEW OF FORM (By "Overcheck.”) The first meeting of the new season as far as the North Island is concerned is that of the Auckland Trotting Club, which’will be held to-day. The fields are of nice size, and the contestants of fairly even calibre, so that the racing should be of an interesting nature. to Bessie Parrish, who registered two wins and a second last season. h€T pest effort being her 4.2 3-8 over 13 furlongs at the Waikato in May. This is equal to a gait of about 3.44 for twelve, furlongs. Of the others Kitty Patch and Carl Mack may receive most support. The latter .went 3.41 3-5 at Northlands in January, while Kitty Patch won at Carterton over two miles in 4.59 3-5. Of the scratch section Great Fame and Moko Chief appear to have the best credentials. Oliver Thorpe won over ten furlongs at Cambridge in, 2.54 2-5, while Kewpie’s Triumph registered 3.29 4-5 at Thames over a mile and a half. With an even dispatch Marionette should account for those round about her, but she has proved unreliable at the barrier in the past. Great Fame and Oliver Thorpe may be best. Ayrmont Enawah 12 Chimes scr Great Delight . 12 Hal Chimes .... scr Meteor 12 Trustworthy .. ser Gold Treasure . 24 Auto Machine . 12 Stanmoor ... 24 In the August Handicap Ayrmont Chimes, Auto Machine, and Meteor are likely to be in most demand. Ayrmont Chimes won a double at the recent Addington meeting, while Meteor also raced successfully. It has also to be remembered that in June last he registered 4.24 2-5 when he ran second to Dillon Logan. Auto Machine is an Australian horse. He raced only once last season, giving a disappointing showing, but it appears certain that he will race better on thijs occasion. The first-named won five races last year, and showed more than average promise. Her best performance from a time point of view was registered at Auckland in February, when she went 4.36 3-5. Dan Direct went 4.37 3-5 at Hawera in April, and has raced well since. Bonniewah won at Carterton in December In 4.40 2-5, and off the front will have every chance. Kewpie’s Guy will no doubt be 'favourite. ROYAL OAK HANDICAP, of 175 sovs.; 4.46 class. Two miles. Valloden .... scr Etta Cole 72 Wimmera King scr Jock Bingen .. <2 Explosion ... 12 Paradigm ... 72 In the Royal Oak Handicap Valloden will no doubt be in demand, but the form so far displayed by him in_the Dominion has been disappointing. Explosion has been working well on the track, and if ne repeats that form he would fake all sorts of beating. Jock Bingen, Etta Cole, and Paradigm aye a useful trio. Of the three Etta Cole is probably the speediest, but at times she has not raced steadily. It she maintains a correct gait throughout she may cat®} most trouble to Explosion and Valloden. MASSEY MEMORIAL HANDICAP, of 200 sovs.; 2.52 claps. Great Parrish is a brilliant young horse, and at Auckland last Daeember ran third to Red Shadow and Arethusa, registering 3.20 2-5 for ten furlongs, after meeting with trouble about two furlongs from home.
