HARMLESS OCCUPATION
’ A man was being charged in the Lower Hutt Magistrate’s Court yesterday before Mr. W. H. Woodward, S.M., with being unlawfully on the Trentham racecourse. In the-course of his defence Air.-, R. W. Bothamley had stated that the defendant had business on the course. “You say he had business,” said the magistrate. “What business?” - “He went on the course just the same as you and I would,” replied Air. Bothamley. “To watch the races, and perhaps to have a bet. I believe,” he added, amid laughter, “it is recognised m some quarters as a harmless occupation.” >
