About the Province Dominion Special Service. There were 16 frosts at Masterton last month, two of 12 degrees each on the Bth and 9th being the most severe. Rain fell on 18 days, the total rainfall being 4.31 inches. The maximum temperature was 61.8 and the minimum 25 degrees, an extreme range of 36.8. Members of the Masterton branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute were addressed on Saturday morning by Mr. R. Hipkins, A.R.C.A., art lecturer at the Wellington Training College, on the making ot Hno cuts and printing from the completed blocks. ’This form of art, said Mr. Hipkins, was suitable for primary as well as secondary schools. Work - under the No. 5 unemployment scheme being carried out in the Alfredton district includes improvements to the school grounds and widening and Improvements .to the Pa Valley Hill. Both vehicles were considerably damaged, but the drivers escaped uninjured, when two cars collided at a sharp corner on the Alfredton-Tinui Road. The cars were, driven by Mr. A. Leach and Mr. W. Leach. The Wairarapa Boxing Association has decided to hold an amateur tournament similar to that held In the Dixon Street Hall. Masterton. recently, at the same place on July 25. The committee has received several applications for professional contests but is taking no action at present.
