MILITARY BALL
The annual ball held by the Queen Alexandra Mounted Rifles was held in the Waverley. Town Hall on -Thursday evening. The Waverley women, under Mrs. W. R. S. Brewer, had decorated the hall with native ferns and amber green and black streamers. In the supper room the decorations were carried out in the regimental colours, black and amber. The supper tables were bright with red berries and red and amber flowers. The khaki and scarlet of the men and the gay frocks made a gay picture, anfl tho latest music was played by the River City Syncopaters.

Davis and Mrs. Davis, the latter In apple-green lace; Major Conway and Mrs. Conway (New Plymouth), the latter In cherry spotted net and mariette: Mesdames-W. S. Brewer, floral gold lame; IV. T.
