Australian Import Prices EFFECT ON MARKET By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright, Ottawa, May 29. Answering questions from Liberal mem* bers during the discussion of the Agricultural Estimates on Friday, the Minis,' ter of Agriculture, Mr. R. Weir, sail that, the price of butter in Canada on April 21 was 22 cents a lb. On that date 10,000 boxes of Australian butter, each weighing about 501 b, were released from consignment at a'pries lower than the 32 cents agreed upon between the Australian and Canadian' Governments, but Mr. Weir said he had no information on the exact price. Pouliot (Liberal) harkened back to the election campaign, claiming that the Conservatives had promised to raise the prevailing price from 32 t< 40 cents, a lb.- This was to be done by raising the tariff.
