Cut off from the stairs and overcome by smoke, six people—including a family of five with twin Infants—perished in a fire in a condemned slum tenement at Hull. The firemen were informed that everybody had escaped, but when they entered they found the charred bodies of the family in an attic where all slept. The other victim was found in an adjoining attic.

Six others were sent to hospital suffering from burns.
