Ministerial. The Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, Prime Minister, addressed n meeting at Otahuhu, near Auckland, last evening. He Will leave Auckland by train this evening. spending to-morrow morning in Feildiug and arriving in Wellington early in the evening.

Allan. He will be away for some days. The Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle. Minister of Internal Affairs. returned to Wellington from the south yesterday morning.

The Hon. 11. Atmore, Minister of Education, will visit Palmerston North today. He will carry out investigations concerning the Central School building, a brick structure which hns been vacated owing to earthquake risks. The Hon. A. J. Murdoch. Minister of Agriculture, opened the Whakatane show yesterday. It is probable that lie will speak later in the United Party interests in the Haiiraki by-election campaign.

The Hon. W. B. Taverner, Minister of Public XVorks. visited the XVaitaki hydro-electric works in the South Island yesterday. He later went on to Dunedin. The Hon. J. G. Cobbe, Minister of Defence, left for Feilding yesterday. He will be there to-morrow to meet the Prime Minister on his visit to the district, returning to Wellington next week. The Hon. R. Masters. Minister without portfolio, left. Stratford yesterday for Auckland.

Mi-. E. Riddiford lias returned from a trip to Rotorua. Mr. C. P. Tripe left for the south by the Wahine Inst night. Commissioner J. Cunningham, of the Salvation Army, returned to Wellington by the Limited express yesterday. Major-General W. L. 11. Sinclair-Bur-gess, Commandant of the New Zealand Military Forces, left for the north by the Limited express last evening. Mr. Robert C. Ross will leave by the Marama to-morrow on a trip to the Old Country, returning in November.

Dr. D. Y. M. Sommerville is to represent the New Zealand Institute at the Michael Faraday and James C. Maxwell centenary celebrations in London this year. Dr. E. Kidson, Government Meteorologist, and Dr. D. Miller, entomologist at the Cnwthron Institute, were elected Fellows of the New Zealand Institute yesterday.

Mr. J. A. Redpath, Christchurch ; Mr. G. Merewether, and Mr. W. G. Bignell, Wanganui; and Dr. C. Coleridge Farr, Christchurch, are staying at the Grand Hotel.

Mr. E. 11. Williams, who for many years has been one of the principal figures in legal circles of Hawke’s Bay, has taken up his residence in the Bay of Plenty district, having retired from practice. Laudatory reference to Mr. Williams’s valued interest in civic and national affairs was made at the meeting of the Hastings Chamber of Commerce when regret was expressed that his departure being unannounced had prevented some public recognition being given of his services to the town.
