Meteorological Office, Wellington, Wednesday, May 20, 1931, 4 p.m. A deep depression is crossing the Dominion to-day. An extensive and intense anti-cyclone covers south-eastern Australia. . , Moderate to strong north to west winds, reaching gale force in places, backing to southerlies during the next 16 hours. Seas rather rough to rough on the West Coast; elsewhere moderate at first, but later rising south of East Cape. ’ Moderate to strong and freshening south-westerly winds and rather rough to rough seas in the eastern Tasman Sea. Weather changeable with rain at times; temperatures becoming cold.
