HAIR HYGIENE

And Applied Electricity

Most of us suffer from some form of .■scalp trouble, but very few of us stop to consider the reason why. It is to the advantage of every man — d woman, wishing tp improve their k..jwledgc of hair hygiene, to endeavour to listen to the lectures on this vitally absorbing Subject, now being given in Wellington by Miss Bates.

Miss Bates is recognised as being most conversant with this subject, and is as well known in Australia as in New Zealand. An especially fine lecture is being given on the ground floor at James Smith's on Friday next, at 3.30 p.m., and again at 7.30 p.m. A further lecturepostponed from to-day—will be broadcast from station 2YA at a date to be advertised. Because of recently-widely advertised claims of one article for beautifying hair and other strongly-advertised claims of the original English-made article, it is wise for all who are interested to examine some of the fundamental facts relating to hair. 'L'hat readers may be assisted to take care of their hair—a woman’s crowning glory—it has been decided to place these fundamental facts before those interested.

According to one estimate —there are 600 to .700 hairs to every square inch of head —and each one of these hairs has its own’ set of glands, in the deeper skin layer, where the hair commences to grow. So it is not difficult to imagine how easily these minute glands will get out of order. Closely examine your hair at the roots: see the minute particles of dust and dirt which collect in the hair cells of the scalp itself. This dust and dirt chokes the avenues which carry nourishment from the scalp to each individual hair.

That is why We always advise to maintain a high degree of cleanliness in all iicalp management, never leaving the hair too long between washings It is a definite fact that any hair, which is falling out, losing its wave or colour, becoming dandruffy, or growing grey, is lacking vital electricity. All you have to do is put the electricity back into fhc hair roots, then all your troubles start to disappear from the first day. You get stimulation without rubbing, massage without heat, or friction, and in these enlightened days the claim to produce a wave in ordinarily straight hair, regardless of any scalp congestion. in a week or less, is quite wrong and misleading to anybody of even average intelligence. A wave can only bo obtained in such a short time by artificial methods—as applied heat. The hair is horny matter, the same composition as your finger nails or teeth, only growing from different-shaped sacs, and not a talso as generally supposed. Consequently, we cannot expect the hair shaft to reflect a vital healthy condition unless it is present in the scalp. Truth in advertising, quality in product. has always been the axiom of the British manufacturer. White’s electric comb, made in England, is the original and genuine article supplied to Royalty. This article is demonstrated and sold only at James Smith’s, where Miss Bates gives daily lectures, and will answer any questions on electricity in hair health. —Published by arrangement.
