YACHT RANGI
Passes Cape Maria
REPORTS “ALL WELL” The Marino Department has received advice I hat. the Auckland yacht Rangi, 18 days out from Sydney, passed Cape Marin Van Diemen al 2 p.m. yesterday, and reported all well.
In a letter written Io relatives in Auckland on the eve of the Uangi's departure from Sydney. Mr. A. Clarke, a member of the crew, slated that they did not expect Io be sighted by any steamer on Ihe home voyage. It was the intention of the crew to stand well to the north for a warmer trip, and if. the easterlies and south-easterlies continued for any length of time, the Rangi might be set so far north that a call at Norfolk Island would be possible. The crew had plenty of water and provisions, and even with a proportion of fair winds they proposed to sail a long course, and did not expect to reach Auckland before the end of this month, even if they made no calls at either Lord Howe or Norfolk Islands,
