ENGINEERS’ DIPLOMA
Alteration in Course
AUCKLAND DECISION A decision to delete four from the course for the associateship diploma in engineering has been made, by the Auckland University College Council, on the recommendation of the professorial board. The subjects deleted are mathematics 11, applied mathematics, freehand drawing, and chemistry. After the chairman. Sir George I’owlds, had stated'that the. diploma course was overloaded at present. Professor h. E. Lamb, of the School of Engineering, said the course had been instituted in 1912 on a lower standard than that ot the degree course. In 1926 it had been decided to improve the course, but after the engineering school at Auckland had been recognised for degree purposes it was thought advisable to lower the diploma standard. The deletion of the subjects would bring the course to the sains standard as when it was instituted in 1912.
