In Parliamentary debate in Britain one M.P. must refer to another as “the Hon. Member for Such-a-place,” or “the hon. gentleman.” Members who are lawyers are always referred to as “learned,” soldiers and sailors as “gallant." These rules are not so rigidly observed in the New Zealand Parliament.
