REDUCED EXPENDITURE
Oroua County’s Savings Dominion Special Service. Feilding, May 7. A reduction of £B3O. as compared with last year, will be required of the ratepayers of Oroua County this year. At a special meeting of the council, the engineer presented tluj estimates which were adopted without alteration. They provide for an expenditure of £B3O less than last year. The amount to he spent on highways will be about equal -to last year. They would have been much less but for the fact that It is proposed to redeck the gorge bridge and continue tarsealing Kimbolton Road to Cheltenham. This latter work would have been paid out of loan money In ordinary times, but at the present time no loan money is available. Much less money will be required for riding roads. The general hospital rate will remain as at last year, and special rates which produce £B3O will not be struck. The rate will be 2d In the £1 capital value over the whole county.
