Effective help would be given by the Government, first in experiments for the purpose of improving by refining the value of tar oil, a by-product of low-temperature carbonisation, and secondly bv inducting a w’ider use of smokeless fuel in the Government service. , He was considering what could he done to increase the use of pulverised fuel, especially for marine purposes. Important research had been carried out at the fuel research station, and it would continue.
