The weekly meeting, of the Wellington Esperanto Club took place last Tuesday night at the Y.M.C.A., Mr. E. C. Jack presiding. A display of Esperanto literature showed that considerable progress had already been made, both in translations from many national languages and in original Esperanto works. It was stated that lovers of literature were especially attracted to the language owing to the many thousands of books which had already been printed. The presses in most countries were publishing new books weekly, so great had the international circle of Esperanto readers grown. Tuition classes were formed under the guidance of experienced teachers. In the second part of the evening an enjoyable programme was presented. Mr. Jack rend an interesting paper in Esperanto on “Eglptologlo,” which was followed by an address in the international language by Mr. L. E. Dust on “Ln Utileco de la Salo al la Homaro.” Mr. Joseph Major, a Continental Esperantist, contributed an address on “Da Kresko de la Ideo de Internacla Lingvo.” The concluding item was nn original comedy in Esperanto entitled “La Pasporta Fotograflsto,” the roles being played by Mr. Joseph Major and Mr. Bertram Potts, the club secretary.
