Notes from Groups (By 8.A.M.) The monthly meeting of the Masterton Group Committee was held In the Den list Wednesday, evening, when there were present the president, Rev. E. J. Rich,-in the chair; the. District Commissioner, Rev. h. McLevie; District Cubmaster D. Hubbard, C M. Robinson, A.C.Ji.’s McEwen and Dillon, Mesdames L. S. Nichol, H. W. Thompson, C. Martin, Messis. C. M. Strouts, n . Clarke, 11. W. Thompson, A. M. Sanson, G. Thomas, J. Ninnes, and J. C. Robinson, secretary. The news of the resignation of Sir Alfred Robin, Metropolitan Commissioner, was received with regret. Congratulations were offered to the new Metropolitan Commissioner, Mr., H. Amos.

St. George’s Day. Thursday, April 23, being St. Georges Day, patron saint' of scouts, was observed with due solemnity. A number of scouters and scouts slept in the Den the previous night, and in the early morning officers and scouts made their corporate communion in St. George’s Chapel before work, and in ■the evening a Scouts’ Own was held. This was taken by the lads' themselves, various leaders taking tin prayers and lesson.

At the invitation of the Returned Soldiers’ Association all sections of the group attended the public service at the Soldiers’ Memorial on Anzac Da?. A laurel wreath in the form of the scout emblem—the lieur de lys—made by the lads themselves, was placed at the foot of the Soldiers’ Memorial as a tribute from the Cubs, Scouts, and Rovers.

Pahlatua Rovers. \ .At the invitation of tie commissioner tor Manawatu, the D.C. conducted the investiture of the Rover Crew at Pahiatua, and the crew was officially formed during the last week, and a most successful evening it was in every way. Greytown Group. Greytown has suffered a very great loss in the departure for Waiganui of the Norrie family. Troop Leader Norrie carried on under great difficulties when it was impossible to find a scouter to take charge of the troop there, and the troop held a special function last week, when thq committee and lads presented Troop Leader Norrie'with handsome presents as a token of their gratitude and gold wishes. Among those present, to show their appreciation of what the Norrie famjy has done for Greytown scouting, were the D.C., Mr. J. W. Barnrfrd, chairman oi the troop committee, who made the presentation, Mr. J. Roche, secretary, and members of the committee and parents. Patiol Leader Harwood Norrie and Cub Hutson Norrie also received gifts and good vishes from the troop. Troop Leader Anker, who has been with the troop since its inception will carry on in the meantime. It has just been- announced that Mr. J. Roche; secretary, has been transferred to Lower Hutt. Patrol Leader Merrie received his first grade all-round cord at the Roseneath Group recently, and service stars were presented to P/L. Hutton and Scout Knight. The "Wood Badge” course at Wirihana was brought to a successful elose last Sunday night, the period coveting the hike. Altogether the course, whicl included the Easter holidays and the lour following week-ends, although of a strenuous nature was thoroughly enjoyed by tie sixteen candidates who took part.
