RAILWAY RETIREMENTS
Officers Complete Terms
Two of the most highly placed officers of the Railway Department stationed at Auckland, are to retire at the end of the present week. These are Mr. J. G. Rickerby, district traffic manager at Auckland, and Mr. C. E. Fowke, outdoor assistenttraffic manager at Auckland. These retirements are the result of the general rule introduced by the department requiring retirement upon reaching 35 years’ service.
Mr. Rickerby has been traffic manager at Auckland for the past six years. He joined the department as a cadet at New Plymouth, and after service in all grades, including periods at Auckland, he was appointed district traffic manager at Wanganui. At the beginning of 1925 he returned to Auckland to assume the position he is now relinquishing. His retirement will take effeeb-from nest Saturday. ' Ml H. C. Conch, transport officer at Auckland, will take over the duties of district traffic manager temporarily, pending a permanent appointment
