Fishing at the delta of the Tongariro River a party of Wanganui sportsmen caught two trout weighing 13 and 14 pounds each. Numbers of Wanganui fishermen go to Taupo every week-end, as there is little good fishing to be had near Wanganui and the journey to Tokaanu can be made in a short time by the Parapara Road.
