VOLUNTEER FIRE POLITZ.

Annual Swearing-in Members of the Wellington Volunteer Fire Police, an organisation which does work supplementary to the work, of the fire brigade, were sworn in last*evening at the Central Fire Station, by tlftf chairman of the Wellington Fire Board, Mr. N. Nelson. The swearing-in ceremony is an annual occasion, and the fire police —about 40 strong—turn it-into a social gathering after the formal business has been completed. Mr. J. Creeke was chairman last evening, and among those present were Captain John Wright and Councillor Hildreth, who are the only two foundation members of the fire police who still remain. The swearing-in took only a short time and during the rest of the evening songs and other items were given.
