COMMITTEE DISBANDS
Objection to Regulation VISITED BY ARBITRATOR By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, April 27. Recently the Unemployment Committee at Otahuhu decided to disband on the ground that it had” been deprived of its important functions by a new regulation. At the request of the Minister of Labour, Mr. O. Mcßrine, a member of the board, visited Otahuhu and asked the committee to reconsider its action, as there would be work for it under future schemes. _ . Mr. Clements, the mayor, said that the board should have left the selection of the men for relief jobs to the local committee. It was found that inquiry officers had been striking off men who had always been thrifty and provident; while others who had not were receiving the benefits of relief schemes. He suggested that the board set up permanent committees and give them the responsibility of selecting men. Mr. Mcßrine agreed to refer the suggestion to the board.
