WIDENING PROPOSAL
Nelson and Lloyd Streets For some time past the City Council has been considering the widening of Nelson and Lloyd Streets so as to make a more convenient thoroughfare for through traffic to and from Wellington South. Following upon the recent fire at the Maoriland Motor works (which abut on to these streets at the rear), the City Council at yesterday’s special meeting decided that new buildings of a permanent nature to be erected on the western side of Lloyd and Nelson Streets be set back a distance of 60 feet from the eastern boundaries of the streets, and only temporary structures be permitted on the area which will ultimately be required for streetwidening purposes.
