Vice-Regal. His Excellency the Governor-General presided at a meeting of the Executive Council held at Government Buildings yesterday morning. This evening their Excellencies will be present at the National Repertory Theatre Society’s play “Trelawney of the Wells” at the Blue Triangle Hall, Boulcott Street. Lord Bledisloe has intimated that he will perform the official opening ceremony of the new Massey Agricultural College buildings on Thursday.

Mr. Morton Paterson has returned to Wellington from the South Island. Mr. and Mrs. G. Bellringer, of New Plymouth, are at the Grand Hotel. Mr. A. 11. Quigley, of Dannevirke; Mr. C. Cuming, Hastings; and Mr. E. Fulton, Auckland, are staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. A. P. Burke was admitted as a barrister of the Supreme Court yesterday by Mr. Justice MacGregor, on the motion of Mr. J. Prendeville.

Mr. W. Perry returned to Wellington on Sunday morning after delivering the Anzac Day address in the King Edward Barracks at Christchurch on Saturday. Mr. C. Penlington, of Christchurch; Mr. Norman R. Chapman, Auckland; Mr. James Fletcher, Auckland; and Mr. C. P. Earle, Sydney, are at the Hotel St. George. Mr. R. Semple, M.P., and Mrs. Semple left Wellington yesterday morning to spend a brief holiday in the Rotorua district. Mr. Semple is taking the trip after receiving medical advice. Mr. F. W. Martin, headmaster of the Masterton Technical School, has been appointed principal of the new Otahuhu Junior High School, Auckland. Mr. J. F. Wells, principal of the Matamata Junior High School, has been appointed principal to the Kowhai Junior High School.

Mr. A. M. Williams, of the “Rand Daily Mail” and the “Sunday Times,” Johannesburg. South Africa, has been promoted to the position of news editor. Mr. Williams left Ashburton, New Zealand, six years ago to take up a position as reporter on the “Rand Daily Mail.” He visited New Zealand twelve months age.
