Nominations Close LIST OF CANDIDATES Wide Choice for Voters Nominations for the city Mayoralty and for membership of the City Council, the Hospital Board, and the Harbour Board, closed at noon on Thursday with the chief returning officer, Mr. E. P. Norman. There is no Labour candidate for the Mayoralty. The number of candidates nominated for the City Council and Hospital Board is exactly the same as it was two years ago, namely, 35 for the City Council's fifteen seats, and 31 for the fourteen seats on the Hospital Board. FOR CIVIC HONOURS Nominations Elsewhere Nominations for seats on local bodies in other towns, according to Press Association messages, are as follow: — Pahiatua 'The nominations for the mayoralty are: Mr. J. D. Wilson and Mr. J. D. C. Crewe. For the council there are 16 nominations for nine seats. For the hospital board Mrs. David Crewe and Miss C. McKenny have been nominated. The power board nominee is Mr. J. D. Wilson. Nelson Mr. W. J. Moffatt, Nelson, and Mr. H. W; Kelly. Richmond, have been returned unopposed as mayors. Hawera Mr. E. A. Pacey was returned unopposed as mayor. There are only eight nominations for the nine council seats. Otaki Mr. C. F. Atmore has been returned unopposed for the mayoralty.' For the council the following have been nominated: — Messrs. O'Rourke, Smith, McGill, Cockerell, Broadway, Milne. Richards, Williams, and Fearnley. The last five are new candidates. Blenheim Mr. M. McKenzie has been re-elected mayor. There are ten candidates for the nine Beats on the council, and four candidates for the hospital board. Timaru Nominations for (lie. mayoralty are Messrs. William Angland. Thomas William Satterthwaite. and Percy Cornellnm Finnell. For the council there are twelve nominations tor nine seats. Invercargill Mr. J. D. Campbell, present mayor, and Mr. John Miller, ex-mayor, have been nominated for. the mayoralty. There are fourteen nominations for.the council. TO-NIGHT’S MEETINGS Mr. Martin Luekie, Independent candidate for the Mayoralty, will continue his campaign to-night, when he will address electors at Ockenden’s Hall, Lyall’ Bay. TIIS electors at Wadestown and Kiiandallah will have an opportunitv of hearimr to-night the views of Clly Council aud Hospital Board candidates, who are recommended b.v the Civic League. There will be addresses in St. Luke's Hail, Wadestown, and in the council hall, Khandallah. Candidates sponsored by the Ratepayers’ Association will speak this evening at the Methodist schoolroom. Northland, and in the Training. College Hall. Kelburn. Miss A. Kane. Civic League candidate for th_e City Council, will speak to women at Hataitai and Roseneath this afternoon. The following Labour candidates for the local body elections will address meetings at Turnbull's corner, Hataitai, this evening at eight o’clock: Messrs. J. M. Colliqs, J. Reed, T. Brindle, R.
