UNEMPLOYED WOMEN
Register to be Opened measuring the problem A register for unemployed women and girls will be opened to-morrow morning at the office of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children, 156 Willis Street. Several women’s organisations are Interesting themselves in the problems faced by those of their own sex through the difficulty of obtaining employment
A deputation has already waited on the Government with a request for help, but a first step is to discover how many are affected. Unemployed women and girls are therefore invited to register so that the dimensions of the problem may be measured, and also so that prospective employers will know where to apply when requiring female labour. It is hoped that the register will supply data enabling positive steps to be taken by women’s organisations in a week or ten days.
