At yesterday’s meeting of the Hutt Valley Electric Power Board the engineer and general manager (Mr. E. F. Hollands) said he hoped that at the end of this month the number of the board’s consumers would be 10,500. At present it is 10,402.
A meeting to further the candidature of Mr. A. E. Mansford for the Palmerston North City Mayoralty, was held recently. Mr. Mansford briefly addressed the meeting, after which committees were set up. Mr. F. Jackson was elected chairman, and Mr. P. S. Larcomb, secretary.
By defeating Shannon last Saturday by an innings and 4 runs, Otakl has placed Itself in a unassailable position for the county championship for the present season. Otakl is now 7 points ahead of Levin, the next team, and as two points are allotted for a win, and there are only three matches to be played, Otakl can be defeated in all of them and still win the championship.
