Secular Education
Sir, —The Labour Party in New Zealand stands for the prohibition of the ■workers’ children being allowed to read or hear read, the moral teachings from the Bible, in legal school time. Allow me. Sir, space in your valued journal to quote an Australian Boman Catholic Archbishop’s scathing denunciation of secular education, which is also a plank in the platform of the New Zealand Labour, Party. His Grace Dr. Duhig, the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Brisbane, said; “Secular education is a plank in the platform of the party which stands for a democracy, for a free Australia, for the rights of the working men and of children.” His Grace said in conclusion : “I say there is nothing offering greater danger to democracy to-day than this same secular education. There, is nothing more dangerous to the stability of social or family life than this system of education which excludes religious •ducation.” , , ~ I earnestly urge readers to have nothing to do with' any party which denies Workers' children the right to the Bible Sn school time. —I am, etc., NEW ZEALANDER.
