Meteorological Office, Wellington, Wednesday, March IS, 1931, 4 p.m. A rather intense depression is moving eastward of the Dominion. An anticyclone is advancing from the Tasman Sea. Strong southerly winds, reaching gale force in places, especially on the East Coast south from Cook Strait. Seas heavy in Foveaux Strait; moderate north of Gastiepoint; elsewheie rough in New Zealand waters. Strong but decreasing southerly winds in the eastern Tasman Sea; sea rough but moderating. Weather still changeable with showers in most districts; heavy on parts of the East Coast of the South Island. Improving soon in western districts. Cool temperatures.
