GAME OF BOWLS

Visit from Manawatu FRIENDLY CONTESTS Twelve rinks of bowlers from Manawatu Centre visited Wellington yesterday, playins friendly games on Wellington, Thorndon and Kelburn greens in the morning, and the annual twelve rinks contest between the two centres on Wellington greens in the afternoon. The conditions were pleasant except that the wind was a littie blustery at times, but the greens were in good order generally. The visitors were welcomed by Mr. H. G. Mayer, president of the Centre, who expressed regret that the president of the Manawatu Centre. Mr. J. Nash, M.P m would not be playing, as he had his Parliamentary duties to attend to. They were pleased to see him present at the opening of play. Mr. Nash acknowledged the welcome, expressing the hope that some Wellington bowlers would visit Manawatu at Easter time and take part in the tournament to be held then.
