Meteorological Office, Wellington, Tuesday, March 17, 1931, 4 p.m. The last of the recent series of low-pressure waves has been crossing the Dominion to-day, and an anti-cyclone is now advancing over the Tasman Sea. . Moderate to strong westerly backing to strong southerly winds. Seas rough south of Cape Egmont and in Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere moderate, but later rising on the East Coast Freshening southerly winds and rising seas in the eastern Tasman Sea. Weather cloudy and unsettled, with rain in most districts; some heavy showers accompanying the southerly change on the East Coast of the South Island. Temperatures becoming cool.
