Hugh Wright Cup Contest The annual bowling tournument between rinks representing the Wellington social clubs was played on Thorudon green yesterday. The clubs represented were. Commercial Travellers, Civil Service, Wellesley, Federal, and Working Men’s. Central Club could not secure sufficient players to make up the two rinks. The weather was fine and . the games very enjoyable. Mr. H. Douglas acted as secretary for the tournament, and the games were of 13 heads. The results were as follow: — Section A. First game: Chitty, Civil Service,- 17, Tucker, Federal, 8; Thomson, Wellesley, ID, Locke, W.M.C., 10. Second game: Ardell, C.T.C., 15, Locke 7; Thomson 6, Tucker 17. Third game: Chitty 10, Ardell 0; Locke 10, Tucker 8. Fourth game: Ardell 18, Thomson 3; Locke 17, Chitty 0. Fifth game: Ardell 12, Tucker 8; Thomson 18, Chitty 3. Section B. First game: Fielding, Federal, 10, Stone, C.T.C., G; Wylie, Wellesley, 32, Reid, Civil Service, 3. Second game: Stone IG, Wylie 10; Dutt 15, Reid 5. Third game: Stone 18, Reid 7; Fielding 13, Duff D. Working Men and Commercial Travellers tied in the number of wins, five each, but Working Men won the cup on the aggregate by four points. The cup was presented to the winners at the conclusion of the tournament by the donor, Mr. Hugh Wright, of the Commercial Travellers’ Club. Thorndon Beats Oroua A four-rink match was played on Thursday between the Oroua (Felldlng) and the Thorndon Bowling Ciulbs. It was the first of what It is hoped will be an annual fixture between these clubs, each club visiting one another alternately. In the forenoon a time-limit game was played, when Oroua was well In the lead in each rink. In the afternoon game, a silver cup, presented by a member of the Thorndon club, and which will be held by the winner each season, was at stake. The Thorndon club showed a complete reversal of form, winning all games. The results were as follow, Oroua mentioned first: —Petrie, Tingey, Murphy, McLean (s.) 19, v. Gibson, de Tourettes, Shall-, crass, Johnson (s.), 22; Oakley, Hausmann, Wlddop, Spencer (s.), 15, v. Perry. Crawford. ' Rodger, Hart (s.), 17;- Simpson, Goodbehere, Williamson, Aitken (s.), 13, v. Watt, White, Mcßae, Thompson (s,), 43; Petrie, , Mills, Mason (s.), 16, v. Andrews, Allen, Nelson, Goodwin (s.), 19. At an informal gathering before leaving for home, Mr. Goodbehere, president of the Orona club, presented the cup to Mr. Johnson, president of the Thorndon club, and congratulated his club on being the first to win it. He also referred to the splendid condition of the green, and of the fine hospitality shown to them, and assured the Thorndon bowlers that they would look forward eagerly to them visiting Oroua next year, when they would do their best to give those making the visit an equally good time, HONOURS EASY Visitors from Oroua On Thursday four rinks from the Oroua Bowling Club were entertained by Thorndon club. Four friendly games were played in the morning, all of which were won by the visitors, but in the afternoon, playing for the cup put up for competition by Thorndon club, all four games were won by Thorndon.
