OCEAN YACHT RACE
Auckland to Sydney TROPHY FOR WINNER Dominion Special Service. Auckland, March 13Work on the yachts Oimara, Teddy, and Rapgi, which are to start iu the ocean race from Auckland to Sydney tomorrow, was in progress to-day. Outwardly the boats looked ready to sail, but in a race iii which the.contestants may be at sea for several weeks nothing ean be left to chanee. The Rangi, which will represent New Zealand, arrived back from a cruise shortly before midday and went on to the slipway this afternoon. In view of the fact that uo trophy had been offered Cor the winner of the race the Akarana Yaeht Club, which has been very attentive to visiting yachtsmen, decided to-day to put up a silver cup as a trophy for the race. The trophy will be known as the trans-Tasnian Cup, and the inscription on it is: Traus-Tnsman Cup. inaugurated March, 1931. Presented by Akaraua Yacht Club, Auckland, New Zealand. The conditions of the gift will be decided this evening. The Rev. Jasper Calder, chaplain of Akarana Club, has also given a miniature of the cup to be awarded to the skipper of the winning yacht.
