WAR DEBT PAYMENTS

Inequality of Transactions London, March 12. In the House of Commons, Mr. F. W. Pethick Lawrence, Financial Secretary to the Treasury, informed Sir F. Hall (Conservative) that Britain for the current- year received £16,300,000 from German reparations, £17,700,000 from Allied debts, compared with £33,000,000 which Britain paid the United States in respect of the war debt. The receipts from the Dominions for the same period were £7,632,000, which could not be considered as an offset against the American payments because Britain borrowed the money here on behalf of the Dominions.
