HOW TO MAKE CARBON PAPER
It often happens that we wish to keep an exact copy of what we have written. This is accomplished by using carbon paper, which can, of course be bought—but (it is cheaper, and much more fun to make our own! Well mix some lamp-black with cold lard, and then rub the solution well into a sheet of stout yet fairly thin paper. This can be done with a soft piece, of rag. When evenly and thoroughly done, wipe the surface gently
until the mixture ceases to come off — and there you have your carbon paper. Unless you are very careful and tidy, the “manufacturing” can be a dirty and messy job, but with newspapers spread out on the-nursery table and with plenty of soft rags, the making of carbon paper can be done quickly and cleanly.
