NEW MUSICAL SOCIETY
Scatoun and Adjacent Bays With a view, .to forming a musical society in Seaionn and the bays, a publie meeting was held in the schoolroom adioining the Presbyterian Church' last Thursday evening. The attendance was representative- of the musical talent in the suburb. The question of . the advisability of forming a musical society when there were so many other large musical bodies In the citv suffering from lack of support, was considered, and it was felt by all who were present that while the various musical societies in the city had. their sympathy and good wishes, the journey to and from the city-for rehearsals week by week, wet dr fine, took . tip .too , much . time (thirty minutes eiu-li way by train), apart .from the addltlomil' expense incurred ip tram fares. Those who wore present enthusiastically stipporleil the--foruiatlou of a local musical society, as n means of bringing; together the■ musical tnlent of the district; and also or’erieburaging the desire for ' producing music other than by mechanical means.
