SCHOOLBOY’S DEATH

Fall to Road from Bicycle MACHINE OUT OF CONTROL When he lost control of his bicycle in Wadestown Road at 8.20 a.m. yesterday, a schoolboy fell and received injuries from which he died in the Wellington Hospital some time after admission. His name was Robert Bass and he lived at 13 Hanover Street. He is understood to have been riding downhill at the time of the accident and to have struck a telegraph post when his machine got out of control. The fall was a severe one, and he was picked up suffering with a compound fracture of the skull, shock and concussion. The ambulance took him to the hospital,’ where he died at 11.15 a.m.
