FIRE SERVICE ADVANCING
Dominion Board Advocated Bv Telegraph—Press Association. Nelson, March 12. Speaking at the Fire Brigades’ Conference, the advisory superintendent, Captain Watts, of the Newmarket Brigade, said 'that fire service was steadily advancing. The lack of knowledge of prevention on the part of the public was lamentable. Too much reliance was placed on lay members of local bodies. Captain Watts urged the formation of a Dominion Fire Board, consisting of representatives of the Fire Brigades Association, local bo J es, and the Governwent. Fire prevention was the making of life and property safe.
