OBITUARY

Mr. F. E. Bowen The death occurred in Palmerston North on Wednesday of Mr. F. E. Bowen, a member of the firm of Dalgety and Co., Ltd., who was injured in the recent earthquake. Mr. Bowen had on the morning of the disaster, visited his firm’s Hastings office, and received severe injuries, necessitating the amputation of a foot. He was brought to Palmerston North on the Thursday following, and every hope was entertained for his recovery, but fatal complications set in. The late Mr. Bowen came from Christchurch to Napier about eight years ago, and was head of the wool department and auctioneer for Dalgety’s, being very well and favourably known in Hawke's Bay. He wa also a swimming enthusiast. Deceased married Miss Mendelssohn, of Napier, who is left with a son and a daughter. Mrs. Norah Kersey The death occurred at Shannon on Wednesday morning of Mrs. Norah Kersey, at the ago of 80 years, reports a “Dominion” Special Service message. ' The late Mrs. Kersey, who was born in Youghnl, County Cork, Ireland, came to New Zealand 60 years ago to reside in Invercargill. Twenty-six years later she came to reside in Shannon, and nau lived there for the past 34 years.
